Training, tenacity and thrift help former Oregon foster youth launch sewing business
In a recent OPB feature, Nicky Young, Independent Living Program participant, shared her journey of launching a sewing business, Your Grandma Nicky. After aging out of the foster care system, Nicky used Youth Villages' financial literacy sessions to transform her sewing hobby into a thriving source of income. Her story highlights the challenges faced by foster youth transitioning to adulthood and the importance of community-based programs.
